The Secret Life of a Grab Driver in Bali

Meet Leon, one of over two million motorcycle taxi drivers in Indonesia, navigating rising traffic deaths, low pay, and a rapidly changing island.

This documentary pulls back the curtain on Bali’s digital nomad paradise, through the eyes of a local Grab driver.

Shot on the Sony FX3, this film explores the impact of gentrification in Bali, particularly in Canggu and Ubud, where luxury villas and influencer culture clash with the struggles of working-class locals.

Through raw visuals and honest storytelling, this is a rare glimpse into the lives of the people powering Bali from the ground up.

Filmed in 2025 across Canggu, Denpasar, and rural Bali. Directed, filmed and edited by Zak Saeed.
